Being number one. Just how important is it?
According to a recent report issued by Chitika, a nationally recognized search-targeted advertising company, ranking in the first position of Google, is almost twice as important as number two. Ranking #1 averages 32.5% of the traffic share, where #2 is at 17.6%, with 3rd position at 11.4%, then dropping off from there. So ranking in the first position in Google has tremendous benefit to the traffic of a website.
The Chitika report also revealed the huge difference between 1st page and 2nd page rankings, with the 1st page receiving 91.5% of the search traffic compared to only 4.8% on the 2nd page. So basically if a website is not showing up on the 1st page, it is not being seen.
